Justus Drugstore

Justus Drugstore is a treasure hidden in downtown Smithville. Chef and owner Jonathan Justus shares culinary genius in his converted 1950s family drug store.

New York Times writer Christine Muhlke reported: “Instead of making the 20-minute drive to Kansas City for rib tips, they now stick around for Akaushi brisket from Paradise braised in homemade root-beer. (Justus uses the G.P.S. on his iPhone to forage for sassafras and other native plants.)” Read the entire article here.

Jonathan takes pride in personally knowing his local suppliers and foraging for rare ingredients. The consistently delicious food is matched by his staff’s warm and attentive service. Although I only dine here 2-3 times a year, his wife Camille remembers my wine preferences and makes great suggestions from an extensive wine list. Justus has introduced me to some my favorite wines.

Share this unforgettable dining experience with someone you love.
